# Megaphone > Megaphone is a free, open-source, native macOS dictation app powered entirely by Apple's on-device SpeechAnalyzer and Foundation Models frameworks. Website: https://megaphone.kuber.studio/ Source: https://github.com/Kuberwastaken/megaphone Download: https://github.com/Kuberwastaken/megaphone/releases/latest/download/Megaphone.dmg License: MIT Requires: macOS 26 Tahoe on Apple silicon ## What it does - Streams microphone audio into Apple's SpeechAnalyzer while the user talks, so transcription is nearly complete when the shortcut is released. - Runs Smart Cleanup with Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework and falls back to a fast deterministic pass for fillers, stutters, repetitions, and spacing. - Offers Inline AI (Alpha): begin a dictation with “Hey Megaphone” to ask a question, generate text, or transform the previous dictation using same-app screen context. - Learns a private personal Dictionary of names, technical terms, acronyms, and exact heard-to-written corrections. - Uses active-app and window context to preserve technical syntax and adapt output to where the user is typing. - Supports hold-to-talk, tap-to-toggle, Edit Mode, voice macros, multiple languages, configurable microphones, clipboard restoration, and a run log. ## Privacy Speech recognition, cleanup, Dictionary learning, and Inline AI run on the Mac. Megaphone does not require an API key and does not upload voice recordings or transcripts to a Megaphone server. ## Key shortcut Hold Fn to dictate by default, or press Command-Fn to toggle recording. Shortcuts are configurable.
